Rotherfield Station Conversion on the Market

    By Harvey Raybould | Commercial | 0 comment | 21 March, 2016 | 0

As certified Kent property professionals it’s safe to say we’ve got our fingers on the pulse of any exciting market movements. So when we heard that the beautifully converted original Victorian Rotherfield Railway Station building was on the market we had to share!Rotherfield Station-Kent

Breathing new life into a slice of history

The property was originally used as a station house on the informally named Cuckoo Line, a popular railway service which linked Polegate and Eridge between 1880 and 1968. While the railway is no longer in service its legacy lives on in the form of beautiful conversions such as this. The previous owners channelled a huge amount of time and cash into the conversion, with incredible results that won the property nationwide attention.

Valued at between £800,000 and £850,000, the stunning renovation project is perched on the edge of the village. It hasn’t been on the market for over 40 years, which makes it a wonderful opportunity for property investors and well-heeled history buffs alike. Interestingly, the property is up for sale in two lots. Lot 1 includes Rotherfield Station, as well as its gardens and grounds. A lower garden area of just under 0.25 of an acre is also on the market, by separate negotiation.

    Buying up in beautiful Kent

So what do we love about this gorgeous historic property? First of all, it’s stepped in grandeur, with an entrance hall, three reception rooms, garden room, kitchen, cloakroom, five bedrooms, an integral double garage and an attached ensuite studio/guest suite. Not to mention a lovely sunken garden and ornamental fish pond.

The location is wonderful, with the property situated in a semi-rural location between Rotherfield village Town Row and Mark Cross. Charming village stores, farm shops and local taverns await! The urbanised hub of Tunbridge Wells is a short drive away, with a great selection of shopping, commercial and recreational facilities. Plus, commuters will love the mainline train service that whisks residents to London in under an hour.

The area is home to some fantastic schools, including Rotherfield Primary and Mark Cross CoE Primary, as well as Wadhurst’s Sacred Heart prep and Uplands Community College, Skippers Hill Manor prep in Five Ashes, Langton Green’s Holmewood House prep and Crowborough’s Beacon Community College. There are also a handful of grammar schools for both boys and girls located in nearby Tunbridge Wells. This makes it a great option for families.
